The Kaduna State 2024 Flood Committee, chaired by Sani Liman Kila, has successfully conducted an assessment tour of nine Local Government Areas (LGAs) affected by the recent floods.
The committee, which was inaugurated by Governor Uba Sani to assess the impact of the floods and develop a comprehensive response plan, visited Sanga, Jema’a, Kachia, Chikun, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Zaria, Sabon Gari, and Lere LGAs.
During the tour, the committee interacted with affected communities, assessed the extent of damage to infrastructure, homes, and farmlands, and identified areas of need.
Chairman of the committee, Sani Liman Kila, expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, saying, “We have seen firsthand the devastating impact of the floods on our people and communities. Our assessment will inform a comprehensive response plan to mitigate the effects of the disaster and prevent future occurrences.”
The committee’s findings will be presented to Governor Uba Sani, who has pledged to take swift action to address the needs of affected communities.
The ongoing assessment tour is a significant step towards ensuring that the state government’s response to the flood disaster is effective and targeted.
