Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, is set to rehabilitate all dams across the state to boost dry-season farming and accelerate socioeconomic development, according to the Commissioner for Agriculture, Murtala Dabo.
Speaking during his visit to the Galma irrigation site in Zaria as part of a tour of irrigation projects, Dabo highlighted Governor Uba Sani’s vision of transforming agriculture. He urged farmers to embrace irrigation and diversify beyond rain-fed farming to increase food production and ensure food security.
Dabo revealed that the administration has allocated nearly 12% of this year’s budget to agriculture, reinforcing its commitment to agricultural transformation. He further assured farmers that the state government would soon distribute farm implements to encourage dry-season farming.
The Commissioner commended the efforts of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) and other stakeholders for their support in advancing agricultural initiatives.
In recognition of his visionary leadership, the AFAN Kaduna State Chairman, Alhaji Nuhu Aminu, presented a Certificate of Excellence to Honorable Dabo during the visit.
The Chairman of the Galma Irrigation Cooperative Association, Alhaji Shehu Lawal Dalhatu, urged the government to maintain the tempo of providinf agricultural inputs to enhance irrigation farming across the state.
Stakeholders insist that Governor Uba Sani’s proactive steps underscore his administration’s determination to transform Kaduna State into an agricultural powerhouse through innovation and strategic investment in infrastructure.
