The management of BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals has refuted claims that its 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery project in Akwa Ibom is 90 percent complete.

The company in a statement recently ,the company clarified that while significant progress is being made, the project has not yet reached the advanced stage some reports have suggested.

“Whilst the refinery is not at 90 percent completion, we are however on track to meet our delivery timelines in collaboration with our partners.

“This BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals project represents a major milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security,” the statement read.

The company also highlighted progress in other key energy projects, including the construction of a mini-liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant and multiple hybrid power plants designed to expand its over 1,000MW captive power generation capacity.

Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, BUA Refinery noted its track record of delivering more than 12 mega industrial projects worth over $3.5 billion in the last decade.

The company assured the public of timely updates and pledged to provide verifiable and accurate information as milestones are achieved.
