Dr Bukola SarakiBy Ikechukwu Okaforadi

The Buhari Campaign Organization has commended former Governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki for his patriotism and uncommon resolve to place the collective interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC) above personal interest by shelving his presidential ambition.

“There is no doubt that Distinguished Senator Saraki is eminently qualified to run for president, going by his enviable achievements as Governor of Kwara State, being the heir of the political dynasty of the famous majority leader of the 2nd Republic Senate, Oloye Dr Abubakar Sola Saraki of blessed memory and the decisive role he played in enriching the All Progressives Congress (APC) with progressives from the Peoples Democratic Party”, the organization said.

In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Osita Okechukwu, who is also a member of the organization, it also commended Saraki for understanding that too many presidential aspirants in APC would breed too many rancours after the party’s presidential primary election.

“We are grateful that he pages with the Buahri Campaign Organization by saying that, ‘I don’t think that our party can afford too much internal rancour going into next years’s election. I therefore think some of us need to make the sacrifice and be part of the solution, rather than part of the problem’, the organization said.

It further reiterated its position that consensus is better than acrimonious, gruesome and monetized indirect primary.

The Buahri Campaign Organization, while commending Saraki for his uncommon sacrifice, also called on other aspirants who though eminently qualified, to eschew personal interest and emulate the former governor and join hands with Muhammadu Buhari to salvage Nigeria from dangerous slide to failed state.
