Arsenal Football Club’s rave of the moment, Busayo Saka has explained that choosing Nigeria over England for his international allegiance in his football career would have been a difficult decision to arrive at.
The 19-year-old attacker who is currently Arsenal’s hot prospect in October 2020 laid to rest speculations and confusions over his choice of country to play for between Nigeria (his country of origin) and England – his country of birth. He chose the latter.
However, Saka who have played for the English cadet teams from U-16 to U-21, has come out to say that it would have been a difficult decision to choose Nigeria over England, a country where he was born and raise.
“Choosing Nigeria over England would be a tough decision. My whole family has been in England like forever,” he said.
He added that it would have been very strange for him to play for Nigeria in an environment he had never been to.
“It would be very strange for me to adapt to an environment that I had never been at since growing up.
“When I grew up all my documents stated that I am English, hopefully Nigeria people will understand.
“It’s like when you lived with your step father since the young age then your biological father appears when you are already brought up by your step father and invested everything in your life, you cannot just say i am going to my biological father who was never there for you.”
