Chairman of Bwari area council, Hon. Musa Dikko, has urged banks, operating in the Area Council to be security conscious, especially during the yuletide celebrations.
Dikko while making this point during a meeting with some bank operators in the Area Council, decried that some banks have not put in place necessary security measures at their premises, while some allow trading around their entrances.
He observed that allowing trading around the bank premises is a security threat, as criminals could hide among the innocent people thereby making it difficult for Police to arrest them.
The Bwari chairman also expressed disgust on indiscriminate location of some Automated Teller Machines (ATM) points in the area.
He suggested that some measures should be taken to protect customers who patronise ATMs, mostly at late hours of the night.
In similar vein, the Area Commander J.G. Bakyu advised the security guards at the banks to study the body language of customers, as some come with ill motives.
He therefore urged them to be of help to the police through useful information, for appropriate and prompt response.
Also speaking, the DPO of Bwari, CSP Biodun Makanjuala, stated that the curfew, which is restricted to only Chikin Bwari, could be extended toother areas depending on the prevailing security circumstances in the area.
