CAN declares June 14 Black Sunday over insecurity

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared June 14, 2026, as black Sunday to mourn victims of terrorist attacks across the country.

The CAN National Chairman, His Eminence, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, who made this known at the end of its National Church Denominational Leadership Summit 2026, said prayers are not enough to tackle the security situation in the country.

He said there is the need for concrete actions to tackle the menace and urged the Federal government to declare a state of emergency on insecurity to bring an end to it.

Okoh also called for the acceleration of the establishment of state police protocol and decentralisation of security apparatus to bring about quick solutions to the insecurity menace.
