Magistrates’ Court sitting in Minna on Friday arraigned a 25-year-old carpenter, Danladi Isiaku, for stealing a television set.

The accused was arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, house-breaking and theft.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Daniel Ikwoche, told the court that one Deborah Atuku of Shiroro Road, Minna reported the matter at the police station on June 5.

Ikwoche said the complainant alleged that the accused and two others, one Mohammed and Lawali, now at large, broke into her house and stole her plasma TV, valued at N50, 000.

He said the offences contravened Sections 348, 343 and 288 of the Penal Code.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, thereafter, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable the police to complete investigation on the matter.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mariam King, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum, who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

King adjourned the case until July 3. (NAN)
