Catholic Bishop of Oyo Diocese, Bishop Emmanuel Badejo has called on Nigerian media practitioners and entertainers to use their work to enhance national, as well as global unity.
Bishop Badejo, who is also Nigeria’s Episcopal Chairman of Social Communications, was speaking during the award and Gala night, organised by SIGNIS Nigeria, (the International Association of Catholic Communicators, Nigeria’s chapter) to mark the end of the Second Festival of Catholic Artistes and Entertainers in Nigeria.
He said the theme of the programme: ‘Communication for Peace and Environmental Harmony’, was chosen to reiterate the commitment of SIGNIS towards ensuring a culture of peace, through the activities of the media.
Quoting the message of Pope Francis, during this year’s Communication Day, the president of SIGNIS Nigeria, Fr. Walter Ihejirika, said; “In a world like this, media can help us to feel closer to one another, creating a sense of the unity of the human family which can in turn inspire solidarity and serious efforts to ensure a more dignified life for all.
