Taraba State Catholic Priests and religious faithful of Wukari Diocese on Thursday staged a solidarity protests against incessant killings in the southern zone of the State.
Rev Fr. James Yaro, Vicar Pastoral of Wukari Diocese, said the protest became necessary for them as a diocese to carry out solidarity walk.
He said the protest will take their messages to the government at all levels on the lingering and heartbreaking killings of over 80 people in some local government areas in the State.
Fr. Yaro noted that the most recent attack took place in Mchia village in Chanchanji Ward on Tuesday, where over ten people were allegedly killed and some houses destroyed.
“More than 80 persons have been killed so far, several others injured with various degrees of injuries, while over 200 communities and Churches have been destroyed and the residents, numbering over 90,000 Catholics, displaced.”
