The Managing Director of Woerka Nigeria, Mr Xu Xian Rui,  has commended the Katsina State Government for its ambitious agricultural mechanisation initiative, describing it as a blueprint for national development.

At a press conference held in Abuja on Monday, Mr Xu applauded the government’s acquisition of 400 tractors and its comprehensive strategy for modernising agriculture in the state.

“This is not just about buying equipment,” he said. “Katsina has a complete plan. They are looking at the future, not just mechanisation, but irrigation and other good ideas to bolster farming.”

He encouraged other Nigerian states, including the Federal Capital Territory, to adopt similar mechanised farming methods, noting that such a step is essential for unlocking the agricultural potential of northern Nigeria.

“Mechanisation is a necessary step for development. The North has vast fertile land—it should be cultivated effectively,” he said.

Mr Xu acknowledged the logistical challenges involved in the delivery of the tractors, including production, packaging in China, and long-haul transport from ports to the far North. He praised the swift efforts made to ensure timely delivery for the farming season.

Earlier, Ambassador Bernard Oshi, President of Ben 10 Equipment Incorporated, heaped praise on Katsina State Governor Umar Dikko Radda, describing him as a “visionary” and “action-oriented” leader.

“I boldly state that this youthful and dynamic governor represents the kind of leadership Nigeria urgently needs,” he said.

He revealed that Radda’s primary motivation is the empowerment of his people through economic and educational development.

Oshi highlighted the governor’s declaration of a state of emergency on agriculture as a bold first step upon assuming office.

He added that Governor Radda’s reforms are already yielding results, with agricultural and industrial development spreading across the state, reaching even its most remote regions.

“Insecurity is still a challenge,” he admitted, “but the governor is confronting it head-on through social reengineering and development. Katsina is steadily emerging as Nigeria’s new food basket.”
