Christian women pray for peaceful coexistence

Women of Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Nigeria region atbthe weekend converged in Kaduna and prayed for the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria particularly as the country move closer to another year of elections in 2019.
This is just as the Women and Children Department of the organisation during its 11th annual national convention also urged the Nigerian politicians to put national interest before their personal interest.
Accordingly, the group averred that before Nigeria can get it right, the need to embrace one another irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliations can never be more apt than now, while cautioning against all forms of syndrome of discrimination.
Speaking to newsmen, at the event, the National Director, OAIC, Rev.
Mth. Julia Akerele said that the convention is an annual event that creates an avenue for members to brainstorm on the societal problems such as restiveness amongst the youth and proffer possible solutions.
“Building a mother is like building a society, and that is one of the focus of this organisation, to build mother for better society.
“The convention is also a celebration of womanhood, bringing them together from different states of the federation, with the aim to promote unity among women of diverse groups”, she said.
Also speaking, the Chairperson North Central Zone, Pst. Mrs Franca Olaniyan said the organisation was also formed to empower women, widows and orphans.
In her remarks, the Chairperson OAIC Kaduna Branch Mrs Victoria Okpako said part of the social responsibility of the organisation is to give sense of direction to youth and women in the society through skills empowerment programmes.
She called on the government at all levels to support the organisation in its strive to promote peaceful coexistence in the country.
Representative of Kaduna State Government ,Hajia Saratu Abdulaziz while commending the organisers for bringing women together to Kaduna State ,said, women needs to love each other and teach their children the importance of human beings and tolerance.
She appealed that religion should not divide us in order to give room for peace to continue to reign in our society.
