CISLAC boss bags 2017 Crusader of Peace, Justice award

Date:

By Musa Adamu

The Executive Director of Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC), Auwal Musa Ibrahim (Rafsanjani), has been conferred with the 2017 Crusader of Peace and Justice Award by the FCT Correspondents (NUJ).
The Award was handed to the recipient by Mr. Ambrose I. Sule (NUJ), Mr. Samuel Nworah (Urban Paparazzi) and Madam Hajaratu Ahmadu (NUJ).
According to the Correspondents, the Award was long overdue given the fact that the awardee had over time played a rewarding role in making Nigerians know the new trend in world government and in advocating for transparency in policy making.
In his response, Mr Auwal appreciated the NUJ for counting the CISLAC and himself worthy of such an award.
He noted that without the Media CISLAC would not have been where it is today, explaining that the Centre’s activities would not have gained the massive public recognition it has today.
He however, pointed out that he was initially sceptical about receiving the Award due to its nature, but decided to receive it knowing that the Media had always given CISLAC its full support despite being a non-profitable organisation.
He acknowledged that the Media’s collaboration with CISLAC had yielded uncountable benefits and as such called for continuous partnership in keeping the public informed and sensitized on electoral activities, health, education, security and other sectors.
He also reiterated the need for the government to be held accountable so as to sustain and consolidate democracy in Nigeria.
