CITAD unveil new journal on challenges facing women in politics

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has unveiled a new journal on the challenges facing Nigerian women in politics in Yola, Adamawa State capital yesterday,
Unveiling the journal titled “Women in poisoned arena : Hate speech ,online gender violence and elections in Nigeria “ at an organized capacity building training workshop for journalists on countering hate speech and gender -based violence, Coordinator of the ,CITAD, Hamza Ibrahim said journalists as critical stakeholders are supposed to be well informed .
Ibrahim stated that the choosing of journalists was deliberate so that adequate awareness can be accorded to the disadvantages and destructive tendencies of hate speech in any society where it is not nipped on time.
He charged the participants (journalists) driven from the print, electronic media as well as online bloggers to be more professional and patriotic in the field with a view to enlighten the larger audience.
Our correspondent in Yola reports that the training was supported by National Democratic Institution and USAID in conjunction with CITAD as partners.
Most of the participants interviewed expressed delight on the training saying it has broadened their knowledge on the two major themes of the engagement (Hate speech and violence against women).
They also pledged to step down to their readers,viewers as well as their listeners through various media outlets so that the desired goal can be attained.
