The needed reform in the educational sector can only be achieved if teachers’ education is revolutionalised, proprietor of City College of Education MararabaGurku in Nasarawa State, Evangelist Gabriel Amu, has said.
He stated this while fielding questions from our correspondent at the City College in Mararaba Gurku, Karu LGA of Nasarawa state.
He called on the federal government to review its stand on the re-establishment of the teacher training colleges or more teacher technical colleges to enable the students have the area of specialization at this level of education before going into the higher institutions.
He said: “Let the government go back to the teacher training colleges since the only weakness of the colleges was that the government was more concerned with liberal arts than primary sciences.”
He stressed the need for the government to introduce pure sciences and social sciences into the colleges for the country to achieve quality teachers’ education.
He expressed pessimism that if teachers’ education was neglected, there would be no transformation in educational sector.
