The Presiding Bishop of Freedom Ministries International, Bishop Nuel Ikeakanam has decried the poor level of development in the country, saying that the country after 60 years of self rule was still dependent on a single product.
Bishop Ikeakanam who spoke to our Correspondent in Asaba on Thursday, said oil has become the country’s doom.
He added that since mid sixties to recent times, oil had been the nation’s nemesis,” The famed groundnut pyramids of Kano, the rubber plantations, of the old Midwest, the coco farmers of the South West, were jettisoned for oil”.
He said the country was aghast and jittery following the collapse in the price of oil, adding that “The scandal of corruption and bad management from NNPC boggles the mind especially when the head of that sector is the President.”
