The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), yesterday congratulated Ekiti state governor-elect, Ayo Fayose.
The CNPP equally gave the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, a pat on the back over the successful conduct of the governorship election.
CNPP in a statement issued in Enugu by its National Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu said the peaceful election was a sign of INEC’s readiness to conduct free, fair and credible election in 2015.
“This is the first time INEC is conducting an undisputed election where all participating political parties commended INEC for a job well done.
“I must confess that INEC got it right this time and all they need is to do same in the forthcoming Osun state gubernatorial election in August as well as in the 2015 general election.
Ezugwu congratulated Fayose, the PDP candidate for emerging victorious over the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi who is the incumbent governor, noting that it was a proof that the people of Ekiti wanted a change.
“What happened in Ekiti was an eye opener and lesson for all political parties to adhere strictly to the tenets of internal democracy by allowing popular candidates emerge in their primary elections”, he said.
The CNPP scribe urged Fayose to be magnanimous in victory and work with his opponents for the good of the state.
