The Chief Of Army Staff, COAS Lt General Olufemi Oluyede has emphasized the importance of continuous training and retraining of personnel to enhance capacity building in achieving national security goals.
The COAS who was able represented by the Deputy Director General of Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre , NAHFC Major General Philips Eromosele during his remark at the inauguration ceremony of Strategic Management and Policy Studies Course 8/2025 held in Nigerian Army Resource Centre , Abuja .
He explained the purpose of the course, which is the Strategic Management and Policy Mission Studies Course, designed to enhance the capacity of officers in policy formulation, implementation, and review.
Lt General Oluyede said that the course is part of the Nigeria Resource Center’s efforts to meet the strategic needs of the Nigerian army and other security agencies.
He highlighted the importance of continuous training to build capacity and address the multifaceted challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, participants come from various services and security agencies, emphasizing the collaborative effort towards achieving national security outcomes.
The Army Chief outlined the strategic outcomes expected from the participants, including a broad understanding of national issues, policy formulations, interpretations, and executions.

The Director General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General, James Myam(Rtd) in his opening remark described the course as an 11-month program designed to provide professional and academic education to senior officers and staff from various agencies.
According to him, the aim of the course is to equip participants with the skills to address contemporary security challenges in Nigeria.
He explained that successful completion will result in a master’s degree in Strategic Management and Policy Studies from the Post Graduate School of the Nigerian Defense Academy.
He highlighted the importance of the course in preparing senior officers and staff to handle security challenges effectively.
