Collapsed Lokogoma road: AMAC urges residents to direct appeals to FCTA

The Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) has called on residents and stakeholders to refrain from misattributing infrastructural responsibilities, clarifying that the collapsed access road in the Lokogoma (Dogon Gada) axis falls under the primary jurisdiction of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), not the Area Council.

In an official statement issued by the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, AMAC addressed public claims alleging that the council had abandoned the Lokogoma community over the deteriorating road.

The Council described such allegations as misleading, emphasizing the importance of understanding the distinct constitutional roles and project scopes assigned to different tiers of government within the Federal Capital Territory.

Refuting claims of community neglect, the statement highlighted key infrastructural interventions completed under Maikalangu’s administration, particularly within Zone B.

It noted that completed projects include the Dnako Village Township Road, the road along Sunnyvale, Damagaza Village Road, Dutse Road, Wumba Road, and the Waru/Yimitu Road.

AMAC further noted that its municipal mandate extends beyond road construction to encompass primary healthcare, grassroots education, social services, and general community development.

While encouraging constructive feedback from the public, the Council urged concerned Lokogoma residents to channel their infrastructure appeals directly to the FCTA, which holds the mandate for major arterial and access roads in the area.
