Commercial driver charged with obtaining bus by false pretence

A 38-year-old commercial driver, Gafar Fasasi, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with obtaining a Volkswagen bus by false pretences.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the accused fraudulently obtained the bus from Mr. Ikechukwu Arinze on Sept. 24, 2013.

He said that Fasasi and Arinze agreed that the former would pay the sum of N1.4 million for the bus through hire purchase.

Iseghede said that Fasasi neither paid the N1.4 million nor returned the bus.

The prosecutor said the offence committed at No. 38, Ramlat Timpson St., Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, contravened Section 312 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

he accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Adenike Adeeyo, granted him bail in the sum of N300,000, with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case to November 25 for mention. (NAN)
