The Adamawa state government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Lamurde local government area and its environs over renewed communal clash in the area.
A statement issued by the office of the Deputy Governor indicated that, the 24 hour curfew takes immediate effect as all residents are ordered to adhere to the directive or face the wrath of the law.
A statement signed by the Press Secretary in the office of the Deputy Governor, Mallam Hussaini Hammangabdo on Monday in Yola, stated that, the curfew followed a renewed communal clash which resurfaced on Sunday evening in the area.
“Already, security agencies have been directed to restore law and order in the local government area with an immediate effect as the Government is appealing for peace in the area”. The statement emphasized.
It would be recalled that the communal clash has been as a result of lingering farmland dispute between Bachama and Tsoho (Chobo) communities which began as a quarrel among the youths in July but snowballed in to clashes, claiming 13 lives, displacing hundreds in both communities with properties worth millions destroyed.
