Communal clashes: Edo CSO demand justice for slain grandfather, others

Human rights activists have demanded justice for Monday Okhuelegbe Johnson and two other persons who were allegedly killed in connection with Amangba and Ago-Emokpae Communal crisis in Oredo Local Government Area and Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area in Edo State.
At a media briefing on Saturday, the Speaker of Talakawa Parliament, Marxist Kola Edokpayi, demanded for justice Mr Monday Okhuelegbe Johnson and Mr Saturday Oyemwenvbimina who was declared missing when some hoodlums from Amagba Village invaded their villages early this year in the state.
He alleged that the victims the frontline targets by some highly placed individuals in society act as human shields, killed and maimed locals while unending investigation by police which is fast becoming a standard tactics, has continued to shield the alleged perpetrators of the mayhem from prosecution.
He however, gave the state government and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lawal Jimeta to arrest and bring the perpetrators of violence in ke-Oroma also known as Ago-Emokpae Village in the interest of peace and justice.
He said to also make matters worse, the state government has not also come out to condemn the killings and the destruction of property in the community, adding that “injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere and should not be tolerated.”
Also speaking, the daughter of the slain Septuagenarian, Mrs. Monday Onibokun, appealed to the concerned authorities to help unravel the miseries surrounding the sudden disappearance of her father
She also called on the state Commissioner of Police to bring those behind the killing of her father to book to serve as a deterrent to others in the society who believe that they can take laws into their hands and move freely on the streets unhindered.
Efforts to get the reaction of the Edo State Police Command, proved abortive as phone calls put across to the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Chidi Nwabuzor were left unanswered neither did he return the missed calls.
