Leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) yesterday cried out over what it described as forged nomination list of its representatives to the proposed National Conference.

The group said it disagreed with the nomination list of the people to represent them at the conference because it feared the list has been doctored.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the outgoing National President of JONAPWD, Danlami Bashara in Kaduna.

It said the list submitted by JONAPWD,” may have been dispensed with as a member

had forged the letter-head of the organization and submitted a fresh list to the Secretariat of the conference which the SGF office has accepted”.

“Secondly we now know that two more lists of names to represent persons with disabilities have been submitted by two separate federal ministries , Health and Women Affairs and Social Development”, it further said noting that it was necessary to alert the nation on this developmentso that” we are not shortchanged by the conference organizers.” The group recalled that at the 2005 National political Reform Conference, the former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo gave persons with disabilities the opportunity to select their own representatives.

“It would be a travesty of justice for the conference committee to accept any list other than that presented by our umbrella body”, it said.
