Confab: Ex LG Bboss challenges delegates on patriotism

Date:

From Muhammad Ibrahim, Kaduna

Former Interim Chairman of Kaduna North Local Government, Usman Ibrahim, has challenged delegates to National conference to put the interest of nation above self in deliberating upon socio-economic and political issues at the meeting.

Ibrahim applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for the initiative to convey such an all important gathering of people drawn across various segments and fields in the nation.

He explained that the time has come for Nigerians to come together and discuss pressing issues in the nation’s polity in order to proffer lasting solutions to problems militating against the progress of the country.

“It is a landmark achievement for this nation called Nigeria to exist against all odds for 100 years and counting, even in the face of serious security and socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria at the moment.

“What is expected of us as Nigerians now is to pray hard to God Almighty to bring back the peace we used to enjoy in the past and not to continue pointing accusing fingers on this administration” he said.

Ibrahim however, cautioned politicians with unscrupulous motives not to overheat the already charged political atmosphere in Nigeria by unnecessarily criticizing the administration of President Jonathan through proxies in government agencies and parastatals.

According to him, patriotism and commitment to nation building are two essential ingredients Nigeria needs at these challenging times.
