Less than 24 hours after the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, hailed the ongoing sale of the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms as smooth and transparent, the exercise has been thrown into confusion on Thursday as the management of the Continental hotel, allegedly locked out the party, over unpaid bills.
As early as 8 am, staff of the party who had reported for the day’s task were politely told by management that they would not have access to the hall because they were owing.
The development caused huge disruption at the venue as aspirants, supporters and party officials arriving for the exercise were initially refused even entry into the hotel premises, until some irate supporters apparently mixes with ‘Area Boys’ overpowered the hotel security and forces the gate open..
A reliable source who pleaded anonymity revealed that the APC only paid for three days, despite knowing that their event was to last for the whole week.
The hotel management insisted that the outstanding debt must be settled before the would grant access to the party.
said the hotel management prevented access to the hall being used for the sale of forms, insisting that outstanding payments must first be settled before activities could continue.
In fact most of the stranded aspirants, is especially those from far places complained about the shoddy arrangement which they feared could affect most of them who will like to go back to get their forms endorsed in their states before rushing back to Abuja for the submission which will end on May 2.
