Convene Security Summit or declare state of emergency now -Ortom urges Buhari

Date:

From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has lamented bitterly over the high level insecurity in the country, maintaining that it was better he is not alive to.see this shame happening umder the watchful eyes of President Muhammadu Buhari.
Governor Ortom made this grave lamentation yesterday while speaking with newsmen over the gruesome murder of 7 internally displaced persons by armed herdsmen at Abagena camp.
He regretted over the increased rate of killings, noting that in the past two(2) weeks, 70 persons have been killed in Guma, Makurdi and Gwer West local.government areas.
According to him, the people are been overstretched. Our patience and preaching of rule of.law and due process are fed up.
“Mr. President must rise up. He is the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria and over 250 nationalities that are in the country. He took oath of office to.protect lives and property. This is unacceptable. The President cannot continue to be aloof. He must address the nation himself and not Garba Shehu or any of his assistants. He must tell us where we are going in this country. This is too much. The body language and inaction of the President shows that he is only President of the Fulani people. It is amazing that we are becoming a banana republic.
“The kind of lie game, falsehoods is not acceptable. It is better for me not to be alive than to see this kind of shame of leladership. My colleagues (governors) must rise and impress on the President to call a security summit if possible or ensure that a State of Emergency is declared on security so that all hands will be on deck to address this matter.
“What is happening is clear that Mr. President is just working for this Fulani people to takeover the whole country. He gives order and his Minister of Defence counters it , is that not a shame? The President must tell us what is wrong with him so that we can help him. I call on my fellow colleagues to work hard to salvage this country otherwise as I see it, the nation is drowning. We must salvage it otherwise, we will wake up tommorow and there will be no country.
“We can not allow youths take over that is what they are agitating for now. Goat does not bite but when pushed to the wall, it can bite. Do we not have Department of State Security or Police Investigation team again? Even when I said the secretary of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore should be arrested, they invited him and asked, do you want to kill Ortom and he said no and they allowed him to go. What kind of country are we? Ortom questioned.
