Convention: PDP Women Vanguard backs Baraka Umar for National Women Leader

Date:

From: Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Vanguard in Kaduna State has thrown its weight behind Baraka Umar as the right candidate for the seat of National Woman leader, stressing that the party stakeholder remains a pillar and a unifying force for women and the entire North West Zone.
The Zonal Coordinator of the group, Hajiya Ladi Mohammed, disclosed this while fielding questions from newsmen in Kaduna yesterday.
She said “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered victimization orchestrated by men of undemocratic values, however, in this trying time, Baraka Umar has continuously used her time, resources and wealth of experience to render unalloyed support to PDP and even non-members in the entire zone of North-West, especially when we were engulfed in legal battles for the national leadership,
“She remained steadfast, focused and united the PDP House in Kano State. We see her as an astute politician, detribalized and strategic in planning and implementing human developmental policies, which is why we endorse her for the seat of national woman leader coming next convention election 2019”.
On reconciling the Markarfi and Sherif factions, Hajiya Ladi Mohammed said, “Kano State PDP remained intact even when people concluded that some were going to decamp; that never happened because a political war-horse in the person of Baraka Umar was involved as the arrowhead for reconciliation in Kano State and the entire North.’’
“Given her successes in business and creation of wealth for the women via financial and moral empowerment for the women in Kano State, we see in her a person with the charisma of a leadership that is why we are using this medium to appeal to her to vie for the onerous, but plum job of leadership in the state. We are of the conviction that with Baraka Umar, PDP will takeover power”, she added.
Hajiya Mohammed also drew the attention of all PDP card-carrying members, particularly those aspiring for positions to emulate Baraka Umar’s approach to internal democracy.
“Baraka stands for one Nigeria and this is why she was and still mobilizing for members of our party in all ramifications, also she mobilized Kano State women to remain just and firm for good governance for better democracy, particularly the mission and vision of our great party (PDP). Baraka Umar stand a better chance for the job among others for peace and national unity,” Ladi stressed.
