The Kaduna State University Alumni Association has distributed bags of rice to security and casual staff of the institution.
The National President of the Association, Usman Tabari, while distributing the food item in Kaduna yesterday , said that the gesture was to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
Tabari acknowledged the hard work of the security personnel and the casual staff of the institution despite their meager salary.
He noted that while other staffs of the institution could survive the hardship occasioned by the lockdown, the beneficiaries needed every support they can get.
“This is why we decided in our own little way, to support them with this little item to assist them.
“About 200 security personnel and 165 casual staff will benefit from the gesture,” Tabari said.
The Chief Security Officer, Col. Abdullahi Ibrahim (rtd), on behalf of the security unit of the institution thanked the alumni for the gesture, saying it will alleviate their suffering.
Similarly, the Chairman, Association of Casual Workers, Mr Dahiru Tanko, also thanked the alumni for reaching out to them in the time of need.
