The Federal High Court, yesterday, granted former Imo State Governor, Anayo Rochas Okorocha’s request for permission to travel to the United States of America for medical attention.
The court ordered the Registrar of the Court to release the traveling passport of the former governor to him to undertake the medical trip.
The order is sequel to an application entered by his counsel, Mr Ola Olanipekun SAN, who notified the court that his client has been having health challenges in the receipt times.
The Senator representing IMO West in the National Assembly is answering a money laundering criminal charges preferred against him by the Federal Government.
Arguing his application, Olanipekun submitted that Okorocha will not abuse the order and will return to the country for his trial.
Responding, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) represented by Mr Chile Okoroma vehemently oppose the request.
However, the court proposed that it will grant the application with caveat, that it would declare Okororcha wanted if he attempts to abuse the favour granted him
Justice Inyang Ekwo also ordered Okorocha to return the passport to the Court Registrar not later than three days of his arrival in the country.
Subsequently the court adjourned till November 7, for his trial.
