Court remands carpenter for selling of customer’s chair

Date:

A Kado Upper Area court, in Abuja, has remanded a 32-year old carpenter, Abubakar Aliyu, of Gitto Road, Mabushi, Abuja, for allegedly selling his customer’s six-seater cushion.

Aliyu is charged with a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Presiding Judge, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq, gave the ruling pending when a formal application for his bail would be made.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr. Simon Ibrahim, told the court that Basir Mohammed, of No. 21, Doula Road, Apapa, Lagos, lodged a report against the accused at the Mabushi police station on April 18.

Ibrahim said sometime in September, the complainant gave the accused his six-seater cushion, valued at N250, 000, for repairs but sold it without his consent.

If convicted, the accused is liable to three years in prison or an option of fine or both.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
