An Abuja High court has remanded a 23-year old labourer, Henry Abuchi ,in prison custody for the alleged murder of a police Inspector, Joseph Mboko.
Abuchi of D close Jaji Street, Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and culpable homicide.
The prosecuting Police, Sgt. Imoh Abuah alleged that the accused connived with one El-Rufai, now at large, and beat up the deceased and inflicted injuries on him.
Abuah said the incidence led to the death of Mboko, adding that the offence contravened Sections 97 and 221 of the Penal code respectively.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Counsel to Abuchi, Mr Sunday Igwe, prayed the court to grant his client bail, assuring that he (accused) would not jump bail.
The prosecutor opposed the bail, saying “it is a case of murder of a police officer in line of duty.
“My Lord, this is a serious offence against the state.’’
Justice Maryann Anennih adjourned the case to February 27 to rule on the bail application (NAN)
