A High Court sitting in Minna hase reminded two persons in prison who were involved in homicide case in Emilebwa near Ebbo in Lapai local government of Niger state for killing a victim over alleged N4 million meant to purchase bene seed.
The suspects, one Suleiman Idris Emilebwa who is the prime suspect and Danlami Adamu Ebbo, while the third suspect Abdullahi Yunusa Ebbo aka Badiri who is at large are standing trial for killing and burning to death one Umar Lawal. Tofa on 21st January, 2017.
The victim who is a business partner to one Alhaji Bashir Yusif who resides at Gulu told the prosecution council who is the Chief State Council, Barr. Usman Nuraini Baba and the defendants lawyers during cross examination of Bashir.
He told the Court that he received a call from the mastermind for secured 100 bags of bene seed at Effan and he met him at Ebbo with a friend and late Umar Lawal after following Suleiman to know his family home at Emilebwa before proceeding to Effan.
He explained that he left behind Umar because they couldn’t afford the available bags to the sum of over N7 million and therefore left him to stay with Suleiman together with N4 million they wanted with.
Bashir noted when he returned with the balance Suleiman could not explained whereabout Umar hence he handed him over to military taskforce where he admitted to have killed him before soldiers also handed him over to the Police in Lapai where investigation begun on the matter.
The Police exhibit keeper from the State Command headquarters, however, brought before the court items to include Axe, firewood with blood stains, pieces of burnt clothes labelled as 21/2017 adding that he knew nothing about the matter.
The father of the deceased Mallam Lawal from Kano could not hold his tears boasted in cry when the items were brought out before the court and was quickly guided out of the court room.
It was revealed that on 11th February, 2017 the corpse was found at Pushi near Ebbo while the relations confirmed it was late Umar Lawal on 13th February, 2017 a decomposed body but was identified due to his often brown tasbih round his left hand.
The presiding Judge, Justice Abdullahi Mikailu of High Court 4, after carefully listened and records adjourned to 28th November, 2017 for further hearing.
The Prosecution Council, Barrister Usman Nuraini Baba said in an interview that he has about 8 witnesses to testify before the Court on the matter while it was further gathered that the first defendant has filed for a bail which might be rejected by the prosecution council n the next hearing.
