The National Industrial Court, sitting in Abuja, has issued a interim order restraining the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services from embarking on any strike action pending the hearing and determination of a motion on notice.
The court, in an ex-parte order, also restrained Comrade Ikechukwu Ogu and Comrade Maikent Ones, who are Branch chairman and secretary respectively, and their proxies from embarking on any strike action.
While amalgamated union is the first defendant, in the suit filed by Chief registrar of the Investment and security tribunal, Habu Yerima Saleh, Ogu and Ones are the second and third defendants respectively.
The order with reference number NICN/ABJ/154/2018, and issued on June 13, by Hon Justice Sanusi Kado, reads, “I am convinced from the affidavit evidence that if an interim order of injunction is not granted and the defendants went ahead with their threat and embarked on an industrial action, the cases pending before the tribunal on its various divisions which are connected with the economy, may suffer and at the long run will affect the economy of the nation and the general public will be affected too.
“In view of the foregoing, an interim order of the injunction is
hereby issued against the defendants restricting the defendants by themselves, privies, associates, agents and members from embarking on any strike action pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notion filed in this case, seeking for interlocutory injunction against the defendants.”
