COVID -19: Niger NBA distributes palliatives to over 250 members

Nigeria Bar Association NBA, Minna branch has distributed varieties of food items to over 250 junior lawyers as palliative to cushion the effect of lockdown over the dreaded coronavirus pandemic in Niger state especially on their members.
The Branch Chairman, Barrister Gimba Mohammed made the disclosure yesterday at Simmit Chamber in Minna during the distribution of the items saying that the current curfew has brought untold hardship to their members especially the junior ones who really on only appearance allowances.
He stated that the association carried out the programme with the support from some of their senior and eminent members who contributed in cash and kind while appreciating them for their gesture.
Mohammed explained that this would in no small way forestall the economic effect on their members assuring to further extend the gesture to the senior lawyers if the lockdown continued in the state because the means of their livelihood will be adversely affected hence the palliatives.
He urged the citizens to strictly adhere to the medical and government guidelines and directives on social distancing, hand washing and social gatherings by the people as the only precautionary measures against the spread of Coronavirus (COVID- 19).
The chairman stressed that their members had continued to increase following, at least twice per Year, graduation from the universities every April and November of the year hence the junior lawyers consisted of its members age at the bar from one to seven years.
The items distributed included rice, macaroni, indomie, groundnut oil, Maggi cube among others.
Beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the association for the initiative that will in no small measure alleviate their plight within this period when the items are most needed.
