COVID-19: Respite as Asokoro reopens for full clinical activities

There is a sigh of relief for teeming Abuja residents as the Asokoro District hospital has reopened for clinical activities, barely five months after its conversion to a Coronavirus COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre.
Recall that Asokoro District hospital which is owned by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) was in April, 2020, converted temporary COVID-19 isolation and treatment centre, due to the severe situation of pandemic in the Territory.
The Acting Medical Director Asokoro hospital, Dr. Nnabuchi Chidi, explained that the facility had recently discharged the last COVID-19 victim and commence full clinical activities for all categories of patients.
Dr. Chidi, who made this disclosure in a recent interview with newsmen, noted that before the commencement of clinical services, the hospital was deconteminated, fumigated and well clean.
The Medical Director therefore assured the public of usual services as was experienced in the past.
He however, explained that as it starts rendering full clinical services, the present economic situation would not allow the hospital to reduce prices of drugs or treatment for patients.
According to him, “ The costs of medical items have gone up, no how will we subsidize drugs or treatment for patients, if will subsidy who will found it?
“But if there are special cases especially the ones brought to us by security agencies will know how to do it”.
