A United State based Nigerian and three other persons have lost their lives to Covid-19 pandemic in Edo State.
Dr. Osamwonyi Irowa, Edo State Permanent Secretary, ministry of Health disclosed this at Edo Covid-19 Taskforce Press briefing on Wednesday in Benin City.
The development has brought Covid-19 mortality rate since the 3rd wave began on July 17, 2021, according to Irowa who gave a graphic representation of Covid-19 cases in Edo State.
He revealed that the 57- year -old man took Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine abroad before retuning to Nigeria.
“Within 24 hours we have recorded four deaths, 55 new cases and eight recoveries”.
He said 369 samples were collected, and that out of the number 53 were positive representing 19.2 percent test positivity rate.
“One of the dead has taken full dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine in USA while others are unvaccinated person
.“But you don’t have to say because one person who had taken the vaccine died, you won’t take it”
