Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have expressed their dissatisfaction with the outcome of the recently concluded ward congresses in the state.
The aggrieved members of the party in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state who described the wards congresses as a charade, on Tuesday approached the Federal High Court to challenge its conduct.
They alleged that the Ward Congress Committee failed to conduct any congress in the local government as stipulated in the party’s constitution.
In their prayers before the court, the aggrieved members urged the court to set aside and as well nullify actions and decisions taken by the leadership of the party in the purported ward congresses held on July 31, 2021.
While threatening that if pushed away by the party, a leader of the party in the local government, Idowu Adebusuyi said APC will no longer be relevant in the local government.
Adebusuyi who spoke on behalf of the aggrieved party members alleged that the Chairman of the party’s Caretaker Committee in the state had during the congress imposed the names of his loyalists on the members of the local government.
The party leader added that contrary to the claims of the Ward Congress Committee, there was no consensus or election in the purported ward congress.
