Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Budget Implementation Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation Committee (CBIAMEC), has commended the Rector of Auchi Polytechnic, Salisu Shehu Umar for his marvelous achievements in the school.
The President CBIAMEC, Comrade Dominic Ogakwu, said they set out to scrutinize the initiatives implemented by the management of Auchi Polytechnic under the leadership of Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar over the past two years, particularly focusing on value for money and discovered mouth watering achievements.
He said during its findings in December last year, it discovered several positive developments at Auchi Polytechnic, which will significantly enhance the teaching and learning process and improve the welfare of students and staff.
“We discovered that there was new construction of new classrooms, staff offices, laboratories, workshops, and hostels, addressing overcrowding issues and creating a conducive learning environment.
“The Polytechnic also invested in modern equipment and technology for laboratories and workshops, enabling students to gain practical skills and experience using contemporary tools, thereby enhancing their employability.
“The implementation of faculty training programs had improved teaching quality and ensures students receive up-to-date knowledge and skills. Additionally, new programs and courses were introduced, with several receiving accreditation.
“There was also efforts to improve students welfare, such as subsidized healthcare, bursaries, and enhanced sporting facilities, enhanced accessibility and affordability of education for disadvantaged students.”
He added that, under the leadership of Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, the school management accomplished the construction of a 1.1-kilometer road from campus 2–3 within the Auchi Polytechnic campus, construction of Office Blocks and Classrooms, construction of a 250-seat lecture theater for the School of Engineering, renovation of the Auchi Polytechnic central library and ICT center, construction of a 2000-capacity hall at the old staff quarter and renovation of paint production unit of the school.
“Others were; attraction and securing the construction of a 250-capacity ICT center by Apostle Johnson Suleiman in support of his alma mater, construction of basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts; renovation and modernization of the school-owned bakery and construction of a water factory and treatment unit and many more.
“We believe that these accomplishments will positively impact various aspects of the polytechnic community, including infrastructure, facilities, and equipment.”
