The African Festival of Arts and Cultural (AfikFest ) said it had concluded plans in the wake of the different negative narratives being circulated about Africa by the western world to resigned the perception about Africans.
AfrikFest is a community socio -cultural organization working for cohesion of cultural heritage among African communities in United State of America ( USA), Africa and around the world, created by a few members of African community in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This was disclosed during a press conference in Abuja recently by the AfrikFest LV Project Coordinator( Africa), Darlington Ray.
He said the creation of the festival and carnival was to inculcate the African cultural values among the people of Africa and establishing those values in the minds of their generations residing outside the continent of Africa.
He said: “AfrikFest will become an annual ceremony which will be rotational from one state to another . AfrikFest wants to really create a positive image for Nigeria by bringing beautiful natural flavor . The Project is expecting over 3,000 to 4000 people and a budget of over a million dollars.”
“We will use the opportunity in conjunction with the Las Vegas authorities to honour deserving African leaders who have in the last year’s contributed to human development and capacity building in different ways. The platform will also bridge the gap for African Americans who desire to have a realistic link to their motherland.”
