CUPP set to address challenges of governance in Nigeria

The Coalition of United People’s Party (CUPP) has reiterated their commitment to address the challenges of good governance in Nigeria.
The North East coordinator of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Manzo Ibrahim Muhammad, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Bauchi at the weekend. He said that the coalition was formed to address Nigeria’s challenges of governance, part of which “brought us to where North-East is today.”
Mohammed appealed to the participating parties in the coalition to double their commitment to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, in order to actualize the objectives of the coalition.
He said the platform of CUPP was adapted to reach the electorate as voters may not accept political parties with much luggage from past activities,
“We suggest wisdom in adaption of platform to be used as voters may not accept political parties that come with too much luggage due to activities of the past,” the ADC chieftain stated.
He lamented on the current situation of the country, particularly in the North-East, Muhammad and assured that members of ADC in the six states of the geographic zone are committed to working towards rescuing Nigeria.
“Our members across the six states are committed to genuine commitment of our party to work with an agenda to rescue Nigeria from the present situation we find ourselves.
“We are all aware of our situation in the North-East. It is no more a classified information. We at ADC know that and we have identified where and how to address such problems by simply empowering the Local government,” he stated.
Muhammad said, some APC administrations in the North-East deliberately refused to conduct local government elections and thus destroy democracy at the grass-roots level.
“We are aware that the APC government in some states in the North-East deliberately failed to conduct local government election thereby destroying democracy at the grassroot,” the ADC national vice chairman stated.
He, therefore, urged people of the North-East to key into the agenda of ADC, which he described as a promising party that will improve people’s condition and is ready and able to address that.
