Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Dangiwa, has called on the newly inaugurated members of Architects Registration Council Of Nigeria (ARCON), to  be committed by promoting good governance, transparency and accountability.

 

Dangiwa  made the disclosure while inaugurating the 14th council members  in Abuja, yesterday.

He  told them to be committed to duties by implementing initiatives that would enhance good governance in the built environment, by  bringing registered architects to uphold ethical conduct and integrity.

 

He urged the council to withdraw all pending cases in courts to allow for sustainable peace and progress in the Architectural profession.

He also drew the attention of council to the incessant incidences of building collapse in the country.

 

He said the recurring phenomenon has led to loss of lives, and waste of resources which has brought shame to the profession and the housing sector.

 

He appealed to the council members to work as  team to reposition ARCON to regain its glory.

 

Meanwhile, the ARCON Registrar, Arc. Umar Sanlawa, urged his colleagues to ensure that, the inauguration is for the interest of the profession.

He  stressed that, “We have a lot of work to do. We have lost a lot of grounds as ARCON. We have to shun our pride and differences for the growth of our profession in Nigeria”, Sanlawa said.
