Dankwambo pledges support for mass wedding in Gombe

Gombe state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has pledged

his administration’s continued suport for mass wedding in the state to ensure that women who are yet to marry, have sense of belonging.

The governor who stated this yesterday during the wedding ceremony of the maiden Zawrawa marriage scheme in Gombe, also said since the inception of his administration, the state has made giant stride in the provision of socio- economic infrastructure to enable citizens benefit the dividends of democracy.

of failed marriages in order to made their lives meaningful in the society and called on couples to always undergo medical test before

getting married in order to safeguard themselves from diseases.

While congratulating the 720 wedded couples, the governor promise that government on its part would assist Zaurawa couples to be self reliant and ensure that their marriages were sustained through training in various vocational skills in the state.

He explained that government have approved a take-off grant of

N20,000 to each husband and N10,000 for the brides in order to improve the living condition of the couples.

Speaking further, governor Dankwambo said the state government has equally approved the sum N151,884,000.00 for the provision of dowry , food items among others which according to him, have already been distributed by the committee.

He noted that no fewer than 720 couples were screened, out of 612 were Muslim Zaurawa(divorcees), 76 Muslim spinsters while 32 non-Muslims were found suitable for the scheme.

Governor Dankwambo called on the Royal Fathers, community and religious leaders to engage themselves in awareness campaign to ensure proper conduct of marriages and reduce rampant cases of divorce in the society.
