Day 156: Chibok girls, parents in traumatic condition- Fashola wife laments

The wife of Lagos state Governor, Dame Abimbola Fashola yesterday lamented the continued abduction of over 200 from a government school by the Boko Haram terrorists’ sect, saying the endless wait for their anticipated return after 156 days in terrorists den has subjected the embattled girls and their parents to traumatic condition.

Fashola, who said this while addressing Journalists on the forth coming National Women conference organised by the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) at the Bagauda Kaltho Press center located in Alausa area of the state noted that their continued abduction has become a national embarrassment.

She said COWLSO has been in the forefront in the quest to secure the release of the girls, adding that they were involved in the rallies held recently for the release of the girls by the women leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (APC).

Fashola said, “There is no alternative to the rallies and campaigns held for the release of the girls so far. We really did not need to let their voice down than to continue to pray and beg God to look for solution for us.”

According to her, COWLSO participated in the rally also organised by Women in Business and planed to provide scholarship and counseling for the children when they are eventually release.

She explained that COWLSO under her leadership generated over N100 million last year, adding that the money was spent on construction of schools in Epe, six public toilets and treatment of cancer patients.

She said technocrats like Mr. Fola Adeola, Founder, FATE foundation will be on hand to discuss issues that would enhance success of the women.

Fashola added that other subjects that will be discussed are effective use of social media, energy conservation, child abuse, character: key to building our future, women and inheritance law, among others.
