Defectors were APC spies within us, says Niger PDP Chair, Beji

Date:

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Chairman of the Niger State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Barrister Tanko Beji has described the defections of some PDP chieftains to the APC last week as good riddance, saying they are moles and irrelevant to the party (PDP).
According to him, PDP is better off with them leaving the party saying that their defection has revealed that they were moles in the party who had been selling the party out.
Consequently, the three PDP bigwigs who officially defected to the APC, includes the former PDP Chairman, Abdulrahman Enagi, governorship aspirant, Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Baka and the state PDP Treasurer, Buhari Abdullahi Ibeto, while indication shows that many more PDP big wings will soon decamp from the party to APC.
Beji while answering questions from Journalists in Minna at the weekend over the recent defections in the party, he said that the PDP are not in any way moved or concerned about the moves as no gap has been created in the cause of the defection.
“Who there are you talking about? These people gave no substance, to us, they only have one vote. On our side, where we lost one, we gained over 100 back. There is nothing new on defection. It is part and parcel of politics.
“We are better off without them. It finally shows that the moles are finding themselves out, it revealed that all these while, they had their interest elsewhere and because they did not get the position they aspired for, they decided to go.
“Let them go. It is good riddance to their bad rubbish. When the former PDP Chairman defected, we received over 100 youths from his village and where Hannafi is from, we received crowd of APC members in Kontagora, they have only one vote.
“They are Abuja politicians. We are not concerned with Abuja politicians that is who they are. We are not moved. We have better things to concentrate on”.
Meanwhile, the Niger State gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Aminu Mohammad Baka has dumped the party for All Progressives Congress (APC) due to lack of sincerity of purpose on the part of the party PDP in the state.
He added that lack of credibility, integrity of PDP candidature Alhaji Umar Mohammad Nasko who is having EFCC cases against him is not salable while the acceptance of APC to adopt his manifestoes for development made him to decamp.
According to him, “I meet with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and I asked him if given the second term will work with my infrastructural development agenda for example provision of health, education roads and other social sectors facilities for the state, he agreed in concrete terms in ensuring improvement of the leaving standard of Nigerlites which is the reason for my vying for the seat” he stated.
Also, the Niger State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) treasurer Buhari Abdullahi Ibeto has dumped the party he said was due to the leadership lack of focus and the inability to unite the party hence the division in the party created doubt for the party victory come 2019 general election in the state.
This was contained in a press release he signed, he announced his resignation as the state treasurer and member of the PDP from 2nd January, 2019.
He said that “the party has become polarized and the leadership is unable to bring together its gubernatorial aspirants even during the recent three zonal rallies of the party in the state” he stated.
Ibeto continued “the lack of inclusiveness of major stakeholders in the affairs of the party has led many founding members including the former chairman of PDP, Alhaji Abdulrahman Enagi to dump the party”.
