Dialogue panacea to standoff over salaries – Niger Govt

Date:

From Yakubu Mustapha, Minna

The Niger state Commissioner for Information, Culture & Tourism, Mr Jonathan Tsado Vatsa has said that dialogue between the state government and organized labour was the only solution to the lingering problem of workers salary in Niger State.

Vatsa who made the appeal while answering questions from journalists in his office, yesterday in Minna.

He said that strike action by workers at the instance of Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) was not the only means to the solution of payment of salaries to workers in the State.

He however described Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello as a true Democrat, humane, people-oriented and a man with listening ears called on the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to see Government of Niger State as a partner in progress in its genuine efforts to move the state forward.

The Commissioner lamented that the problem facing the state is not a creation of the present Administration but it is as a result of elitist misrule in Niger State for the past sixteen years.

Vatsa however, called on the organized labour and the entire workers alike to bear with the State Government and to pray for the improvement of the economic fortunes of the State as according to him, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.
