Dissolved NWC members head to court, fault Giadom virtual NEC meeting

The Adams Oshiomole-led faction of the now-dissolved APC National Working Committee (NWC), has decided to approach a court of law to contest its dissolution by President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.
APC NEC had during an emergency virtual meeting agreed to dissolve the national leadership of the party, setting up a caretaker committee headed by the former National Secretary and current Governor of Yobe state, Mai Mala Buni.
An NWC member loyal to the Oshiomole faction said that there is no provision of a Caretaker Committee in the constitution of the ruling party, insisting that they are infractions committed by the NEC with that decision.
“We will soon issue statement but we have resolved to head to court for the legal interpretations of the decision of NEC especially as it concerns our dissolution.”
“Yes, we know that Oshiomhole has his faults, but with all the positive contributions he has made to reposition the party, won’t he have been given to honours of telling him to resign?” he queried.
However, the APC caretaker committee has fully taken control, re-opening the sealed party secretariat in Abuja and have begun reconciliatory moves.
The statement signed by Hilliard Eta and Waziri Bulama, acting chairman and Secretary respectively reads, “The following represents the collective decision of eighteen members of the National Working Committee.
“The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to reiterate its earlier position that Chief Victor Giadom has no authority whatsoever to convene a meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party.
“Article 25(B) of the Constitution of the APC is explicit that only the National Chairman or the National Working Committee (NWC) is given the prerogative of summoning meetings of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party either for statutory quarterly meetings or for emergency meetings.
“The same provision of the constitution makes it compulsory for a notice of minimum of 14 days in respect statutory quarterly meetings and 7 days in respect of emergency meetings
“We note that Chief Victor Giadom had convened and conducted a virtual meeting purportedly to be a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of our Party wherein certain far reaching resolutions were purportedly reached.
“While the National Working Committee is studying the unfolding drama, it will be consulting with stakeholders and team of lawyers on the next line of action
“Therefore, all members of our great Party and concerned Nigerians are urged to remain calm pending the outcome of the consultations”.
