Don’t sell our girls, look for goods to sell, NLC tells Shekau

Following the recent threat by the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Ahmed Shekau to sell the kidnapped Chibok school girls at open market, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) advised the Boko Haram leader to go and look for goods to sell if he has chosen to be a trader and not sell Nigerian girls because they are not his products, but Nigerian girls with future.

The congress stated this during a rally to bring back the Chibok girls unconditionally held in Kaduna yesterday.

Speaking to the protesters, a human right activist and President, Women Arise for Change Initiative, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin said it is disheartening to hear somebody who claimed to be leading people on the part to paradise to be talking of selling girls that are created by God to be future mothers, governors, doctors and business gurus

“We want Shekau and his cohorts to know that in this civilized world, the era of slave trade and capture fugitives are past, so they should release our girls to us immediately without ant stitch attached.

“We also want to tell the Boko Haram members that they have murdered sleep and they are not going to have rest unless they bring back our girls safe and healthy,” Odumakin stressed.

Speaking earlier, the Vice President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Comrade Issa Aremu said the rally was organized as part of the continuous protests not only in Nigeria but across the globe to mount pressure on the government and security agencies to intensify efforts in other to release over 200 abducted school girls in Chibok, Borno state.

According to the comrade, real men don’t sell girls but goods, so Shekau should go and look for goods to sell.

The protesters were however prevented from leaving the Murtala Square which was the agreed assemble point of the intended rally.
