The Development Partner Group (DPG) has called for an urgent review of Social Protection policy to align with current government priorities.

The DPG asserted this when the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ) presented the Act Naija Project at the UN House in Abuja yesterday.

The meeting aimed to inform stakeholders about the upcoming National Dialogue on Social Protection scheduled for August 12-13, 2025, in Abuja.

The meeting chaired by Mr. Hamidou Poufon from UNICEF, welcomed participants, including virtual attendees from the World Bank and the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

The agenda focused on reviewing the National Social Protection Policy and the Act Naija Project.

The stakeholders encouraged ANEEJ to regularly share project activities and updates with the DPG.

The participants also emphasized that developing a comprehensive roadmap for social protection implementation is crucial, noting that government leadership is deemed essential for the successful implementation of social protection initiatives.

The meeting underscores the commitment to enhancing social protection in Nigeria through collaborative efforts between government agencies, development partners, and civil society organizations.
