Date:

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Friday, sentenced a 22-year-old apprentice electrician, Sherifu Odejayi, to three weeks rehabilitation, for trafficking in hard drugs.

Justice Saliu Sa’idu sentenced him after he pleaded guilty to the charge of being found in possession of 400 grammes of Indian hemp.

Sa’idu said the convict should be kept at the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) rehabilitation centre and that the drug exhibits should be destroyed after the three weeks.

The judge said that the convict was sentenced after a review of the facts of the case, as provided by the prosecutor, Mr. Orji Kalu, an officer of NDLEA.

Kalu tendered the bulk of the drug, certificate of drug analysis and the confessional statement of the accused to the court and they were admitted in evidence.
