Over 130,000 members of the All Progressives Party, APC in Benue State have been registered in the ongoing e-regiatration process.

The exercise commenced on January 12, 2026 flagged off by the State Governor Hyacinth Alia who was registered with number 001 in his home country in Vandeikya local government area.

Five days later, on January 17, the party’s caretaker committee chairman in the state, Benjamin Omale, also registered in Ohinmi LGA.

Our correspondent gathered that between January 12 and January 22, only about 33,000 members had registered.

Spokesperson of the party under the leadership of Austin Agada loyal to the Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF Daniel Ihomun intimated that the figure rose to over 130,000 following intervention from the Secrerary to Government of the Federation ,SGF Sen George Akume.

He said, “the SGF had instructed all House of Representatives members, Senators and other stakeholders to go back to the grassroot and mobilize their people to be registered. This has accounted for the increased number.

“Mind you all the registrations are going to one portal. We have our agents in all the local government areas who are monitoring the registration. We expect that in the days ahead, the number would double because of the enthusiasm showed by our members.

It was learnt that the state government deployed 870 agents, and the SGF sent 552 agents.

Ihomun said the SGF provided registration equipment to facilitate the process, including printers, laptops, phones, power banks, and Internet connections.
